Easing of Queensland restrictions
From 11 November 2021, the 11 local government areas in South East Queensland are no longer considered impacted areas. This means that all of Queensland has the same restrictions.
Mask wearing: Masks will no longer be required to be worn at any TAFE Queensland campus including while in classrooms, libraries, restaurants, gyms, beauty salons or in vehicles. While not mandatory, you may still wear a mask on campus if you choose to do so. Residents and visitors to the Gold Coast are encouraged to consider wearing a face mask when visiting public venues. Off campus, other mask wearing may restrictions apply.
Capacity: All indoor settings can have up to one person per two square metres, or 100 per cent capacity if patrons are in ticketed and allocated seating.
- Stay home if you’re sick
- If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested
- Stay 1.5 metres away from other people—think two big steps
- Wash your hands often, using soap and water or hand sanitiser
- Sneeze or cough into your arm or a tissue. Then put the tissue in the bin
- Wear a face mask when you’re not able to keep 1.5 metres away from other people or whenever mandatory face masks are required
- Get vaccinated
Keeping our campuses COVID safe
Campuses are undergoing daily deep cleans of high-touch surfaces, we’re conducting regular touch-point cleaning on flat surfaces, and we’ve provided sanitation products for students to clean equipment before and after use. So next time you see our facilities or cleaning staff, say thanks for keeping us COVID safe.

Close contact exposure
If you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you are requested to self-isolate for 14 days following the last exposure.
If you complete your full 14-day isolation follow the advice of Queensland Health.
If you are a student and you took self-isolation precautions please contact us on 1300 308 233 to discuss returning to class.

Please check in to TAFE Queensland
From 1am Friday 9 July, the Check In Qld app is mandatory for businesses across a range of sectors, including TAFE Queensland.
The Check In Qld app is a safe, secure and convenient way to support the Queensland Government’s contact tracing efforts.
Students, staff, contractors, and visitors must check-in at TAFE Queensland. The easiest way to check-in is to use the Check In Qld app and scan the QR code on arrival before starting class or work each day. QR codes are conveniently located at venue entry points.
Some blocks, venues and on-campus services (such as restaurants, gyms, live salons, cafes and auditoriums) on our campuses have their own unique QR codes which you or our students will be required to scan before entering.
Your details will be stored securely by the Queensland Government for contact tracing only (if required). TAFE Queensland will not have access to this information, nor will any third parties.

Check-in FAQs
If you are having trouble with check-in using your phone's camera, you can enter the 6-digit code located on the QR code poster.
Under the current Queensland Health COVID-19 directive, some of our facilities, for example the auditoriums in our Brisbane campuses, are required to have allocated seating. Please follow the venue instructions at all locations for seating.
While you are required to check-in for contact tracing purposes, you don’t need to do this using the app. For students and employees who don’t have a smartphone or aren’t comfortable downloading apps, we can take your details using another method. Please speak with your teacher or a staff member at your location, or ask a friend to add you to their check-in.
One of our employees or an employee of an on-campus service may ask to see confirmation of your check-in. If asked, you are required to show evidence of check-in. If you used the app, simply present your check-in confirmation screen. If you didn’t use the app, you should present a copy of the manual check-in confirmation or from your friend’s.
Further detail of the businesses and activities that are now required to use the Check In Qld app is included in Queensland Health’s Restrictions on Business, Activities and Undertakings Direction.
Recording your check-in information when you attend a TAFE Queensland campus, or access a unique on-campus facility or service is the most important information to enable the Queensland Government’s contact tracers to focus on their investigation. Recording a check-out time is not a requirement.
